Being in two places at once is impossible, yet it is how we are conditioned to live. Physically we are rooted in the present, but mentally we are off somewhere else, following our thoughts. In the past. In the future. Traveling constantly between the two. Anywhere but here.
The images in This Must Be The Place have grown out of a desire to be more aware of this dynamic. By combining two photographs in one frame to create images that are at once quiet and confusing, melancholy and funny, disorienting and familiar, I am attempting to understand, if not reconcile, the tension between these contradictory forces that often govern our existence.
